Nye Horisonter is a Berlin-based documentary production company founded by producer Christopher Larson and director Killian Bayer. We make protagonist-led documentaries that bring audiences into the heart of unfolding real-world stories.

Rooted in cinéma vérité, our filmmaking combines journalistic rigour with cinematic storytelling. We build close relationships with our protagonists and follow their stories wherever they take us, capturing the choices, struggles and turning points that reveal larger social realities.

We believe documentary can move people and help bring about change. From early development, we build partnerships and outreach strategies to give our films a life beyond their release, connecting them with communities, universities and civil-society organisations to spark debate and support meaningful action.

Killian Bayer

Killian Bayer is an Irish-German documentary director based in Berlin. Before becoming a filmmaker, he served in the German military. Killian is drawn to stories of people confronting conflict and change, both in their own lives and in the world around them. After studying in Potsdam, Moscow and Irkutsk, he trained at Deutsche Welle and worked as a Riga-based correspondent covering Eastern Europe. His reporting and filmmaking have taken him to Russia, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. He combines a journalist’s editorial judgement and instinct for story with a cinematographer’s eye for atmosphere and detail.
