The
Fisherman's Net
The Fisherman's Net was filmed while Christopher Larson was in Zanzibar. As he explored the island, he noticed a culture and life that moved completely independent of the life tourists lived. Working with his hotel owners, he set out to spend one day with the local fishermen who provided fish to the hotel.

Abdullah Abdullah would be his guide, and as the day progressed, it became clear how important the community was to everything these fishermen do. Despite the challenges of overfishing to support the increasing number of tourists, along with general pollution and other problems, this community of fishermen held strong and helped each other. They shared motors, utensils, boats, parts, and even their daily catch.

This short documentary shines a light on a world that can often go unnoticed by those traveling there.
